Monmouthshire Cottages wins prestigious National Award!
Monmouthshire Cottages has been awarded as offering the Best Visitor Welcome in Wales.
The local business took the Gold award in their category at the award ceremony held the Vale Resort in Hensol on Wednesday 25 March.
Monmouthshire Cottages is a five star self-catering accommodation situated in Wye Valley, Wales. The family run business has been operating for over 15 years and offers guests the choice of three 2-4 bedroom cottages, all of which are individually located within Monmouthshire.
Malcolm Wilton, owner of Monmouthshire Cottages, said: “We are over the moon to have won this award. We are a small family business and work really hard to look after our guests. To be recognized in this way is fabulous.”
Fiona Wilton, owner of Monmouthshire Cottages and Vice Chair of the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean Tourism Association, said: “It isn’t just about welcoming people when they arrive at our cottages, though we do make sure we are there with a smile and we do provide more little extras than most. It starts by making our website and our social media feel friendly, and our response when people contact us too. We ensure that welcoming feel goes on all through the process of the reservation and administration with lots of personalized guidance available about our area and what to enjoy. Even after they have left there is often contact and what we really love happens pleasingly often. It’s when we say “Croeso Nol. Welcome back”
Deputy Minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism, Ken Skates, said: “The National Tourism Awards are the Oscars of the tourism industry and pay tribute to those who are committed and passionate about their businesses, tourism and Wales. The quality of what we have to offer here in Wales goes from strength to strength and the Awards are an opportunity for us all to celebrate the industry and to showcase the outstanding quality of our vibrant tourism sector. I’d like to congratulate the winners and wish you the very best for a successful season ahead.”
The awards, which are run by Visit Wales in commercial partnership with Quadrant Media & Communications, recognise the best in Welsh tourism and include categories such as Best Place to Stay, Best Place to Eat, Best Day Out, Best Event, Best Visitor Welcome, Tourism Skills Development, Best Business Tourism and the new Rising Star category, which recognises those who are up and coming in the industry.
