Reviews from our guests

There are two places where our guests leave us comments.

They  are written by hand in the visitor books in each cottage ( sometimes even signed by the pets! ) Sometimes people forget to write in the book and e mail us later. We faithfully copy these comments as they come in and we upload them here. The only thing we hide or alter is the full guest name and address for obvious reasons of privacy.

Secondly we encourage our guests to write about us on Trip Advisor and we have an automatic feed of what has been written from Trip Advisor to this site .  Reviews posted like that show on the home page for each cottage, so now you can see what others have said.

As you will see we do have brilliant reviews. They are genuine, not a "fix" and  and its not that nothing ever goes wrong!. Although our standards are very high just occasionally, in the real world,  things are bound to happen. The good reviews are  because if something does go awry, and if our guests tell us about it  during their stay,  we do move heaven and earth to fix it while those guests are still with us. People appreciate this effort  on our part greatly and we guarantee it.

"We thoroughly enjoyed our second stay at Vanilla Cottage despite the snowy conditions at the start of our visit - luckily it soon melted. Just as we fondly remember it with welcoming treats, peace and serenity. Our highlights are doggy walks in Wentwood Forest just the other side of Usk (Woodland Trust) and pottering around Usk, Abergavenny and Monmouth. A super break! "We have had a lovely stay in this cottage. A fabulous location made even more perfect with the snow.... so pretty. All in all a good time had here. Ann and Steven Harding Derbyshire "

"This is our 7th year and every year has been different and very special. This year the snow brought by storm Emma just made our stay even more special- Tintern in 6-7 inches of snow was even more beautiful than usual, although it slowed us down a little we managed a walk every day. Our hosts Fiona and Malcolm are the best! Always leaving us little treats for us and Sammy the dog. Always have great suggestions for walks and events in the area and always look after our every needs. They ouldn’t do anymore to make our stay just perfect! Aleady booked for St David’s day next year. Can’t wait. Have an amazing year. Jo, Liz and Sammy the exhausted hound! "

"We greatly admire the attention to detail at this cottage - it is about the first time that we did not have to deliberate which glasses to use for sherry! Using the kitchen has been a pleasure. Cottage kept at a very comfy temperature, so did not use the woodburner this time ( though glad it is there!) Harold and Judith Tarrant Duxford Cambs "

"The Anchor was very welcoming, even without the 25% discount! Staff friendly, food mostly typical “pub grub”, but none the worse for that. Cottage size better for us as larger than Vanilla where we have stayed previously ( party of 3 plus a dog). Pat, Rod, Catherine and Winston "
