Reviews from our guests

There are two places where our guests leave us comments.

They  are written by hand in the visitor books in each cottage ( sometimes even signed by the pets! ) Sometimes people forget to write in the book and e mail us later. We faithfully copy these comments as they come in and we upload them here. The only thing we hide or alter is the full guest name and address for obvious reasons of privacy.

Secondly we encourage our guests to write about us on Trip Advisor and we have an automatic feed of what has been written from Trip Advisor to this site .  Reviews posted like that show on the home page for each cottage, so now you can see what others have said.

As you will see we do have brilliant reviews. They are genuine, not a "fix" and  and its not that nothing ever goes wrong!. Although our standards are very high just occasionally, in the real world,  things are bound to happen. The good reviews are  because if something does go awry, and if our guests tell us about it  during their stay,  we do move heaven and earth to fix it while those guests are still with us. People appreciate this effort  on our part greatly and we guarantee it.

"Transported from busy life to the tranquillity of Vanilla Cottage. A little help from the blackberry vodka and a comfy bed, we relaxed and 're energised for our few days ahead. We enjoyed a very damp walk along the banks of the River Usk but beautiful. A trip to Barry Island to experience the area was a surprising pleasure, a wonderful clean beach and environment. We self-catered making some lovely evening meals in the well equipped kitchen. Lovely, lovely, lovely time Carole and Steve Eastwood Stanley Kent "

"We enjoyed our stay at Vanilla Cottage very much. Such peaceful surroundings and many lovely welcoming details in the cottage. The weather has been great and we had some lovely days out. The Wye Valley, Brecon Beacons, Cardiff, The Big Pit, Tintern Abbey. The Four Waterfalls Trail was a real adventure. The unique Transporter Bridge in Newport kid worth a visit The Linssen family The Netherlands "

"Fabulous week full of sunshine, pubs and walks. Ventured to Cardiff by train and Dean Forest railway sell worth a ride on a steam train. Bike hire from Parkend for half a day was good fun as was canoeing for half a day from Monmouth Canoes. All very exhausting so replenished stocks at The Fountain -great Sunday roast and The Anchor. Cottage excellent to come home to, particularly happy hour in the sun trap in the back garden. Relaxing week had by all. Ta very much Fiona and Malcolm Scales party East Sussex "

"Second time here - a beautiful, peaceful spot and great cottage. Went to MONMOUTH- lovely town for a wander round. Ate at The Foxhunter in Nantyderry and The Black Bear in Bettws Neuwedd - both lovely meals but worth booking as both busy. Took a walk around Bettws Neuwedd- go to the Bluebell woods at the top of the hill and to the church with its 4000 year old Yew. Will certainly be back Allison and Tom Kelly Painton Devon "
