Reviews from our guests

There are two places where our guests leave us comments.

They  are written by hand in the visitor books in each cottage ( sometimes even signed by the pets! ) Sometimes people forget to write in the book and e mail us later. We faithfully copy these comments as they come in and we upload them here. The only thing we hide or alter is the full guest name and address for obvious reasons of privacy.

Secondly we encourage our guests to write about us on Trip Advisor and we have an automatic feed of what has been written from Trip Advisor to this site .  Reviews posted like that show on the home page for each cottage, so now you can see what others have said.

As you will see we do have brilliant reviews. They are genuine, not a "fix" and  and its not that nothing ever goes wrong!. Although our standards are very high just occasionally, in the real world,  things are bound to happen. The good reviews are  because if something does go awry, and if our guests tell us about it  during their stay,  we do move heaven and earth to fix it while those guests are still with us. People appreciate this effort  on our part greatly and we guarantee it.

"Lovely cottage, great walks, good golf course, nice food. What more does one need? Dave, Pavia and Daisy Worcestershire "

Vanilla Cottage - Dave, Pavia and Daisy - February 2015

"We have enjoyed the cottage, tremendously, in a beautiful location, tremendous for night photography. All the little details and extras in the cottage, made a difference. Had some lovely walks from the cottage, especially from Tintern to Brockweir along the river. Dogs especially appreciated it. Had some lovely meals in The Anchor, excellent food, all fresh produce. The Steak Ale Pie (homemade) is fab. Overall beautiful cottage, with so many little extras. Frank Powell Merseyside"

"Great stay, lovely comfortable rooms very warm and cosy. Good walking area, Monmouth worth a visit and Llanthony Priory. Very good, thank you. Richards Caerphilly "

"Thank you for a wonderful stay. Hope to see you in the future"

Vanilla Cottage - Dave and Iona Anthony - January 2015

"Thank you Malcolm and Fiona for a lovely stay at your beautiful Tintern Abbey Cottage. Everyone told us it rains a lot in Wales! Nevertheless we had a wonderful few days - driving through the villages, a visit to the Sculpture trail ( incorporating the Gruffalo trail which the kids enjoyed!) Red robin spotting, crunching through snow, local walks, a wander around the Abbey. Too much to see and do with only three days to do it in so we will have to come back. Thank you for the welcome treats- delicious BlackBerry Vodka! How nice it was to sit beside a real fire sipping wine!. A rarity in Australia! Off now, to the other side of the world, to 35 degrees Celsius, but this area has left a lasting impression. Warm wishes, Melanie and Maciek Grabowski and family Western Australia "

"We had a wonderful week in Vanilla cottage and enjoyed walking off the pre Christmas stress in the Brecon Beacons. Our favourites were hiking a frozen llangattock Escarpment, where we were one of a few walkers on New Years Eve. This was in contrast to a very busy and stormy Pen Y Fan. We are avid hikers (probably the austrian genes) we will definitely be coming back to explore the area and would love to stay in Vanilla cottage again. "
