June- when the famous Open Gardens event takes place in Usk and the roses are at their best.
. When flowers bloom and the smell of new mown grass is everywhere . Summer sees Monmouthshire Agricultural Show ,Castles and Gardens open to visitors, and the massive Velothon out of Cardiff right round our way. There are village fetes, cream teas and cricket matches and the rivers are perfect for kayaks and canoes. Picnic or barbecue or a doze in the sun ? Not to be missed!!
Make the most of the great outdoors. All three cottages have their own pretty garden, good quality garden furniture. riverbank or woodland walking from the doorstep. Brilliant local pubs and restaurants abound , there is the Ryder Cup golf course, ancient castles and museums to explore , fantastic off and on road cycling , paddle hard or drift your canoe gently down the magical Wye.. Still full of energy ? How about a steam train ride, a pony trek or go get lost in a maze ? You can take the family to see where Star Wars was filmed and let them act out a lightsabre fight!
Watch a village cricket match or attend a garden fete. Cucumber sandwiches, cricket whites, scones and strawberry jam. Local ice cream running down your chin. Cider with folk music or a pint on the river bank. All available with a dash of warm Welsh style. Croeso!
Afraid it may rain? Still loads to do! Fishing and quad biking are better in the rain, you can swim in an indoor pool , visit an indoor tropical butterfly zoo, go into ancient roman mines or a deep coal mine or visit a world class museum. Or splash in woodland puddles and enjoy the scent of newly washed trees.
Local towns have swimming pool and gym,there are smart spas in the hotels plus a VirginActive gym a few minutes from Vanilla Cottage.
More of a city bird? Try our theatres, opera and sporting events, be tempted by world class shopping in Cardiff.
Putting your feet up? Doze in the shade with a good book or we can arrange a beautician or a hairdresser to come to your cottage. Manicure? Sports massage? Hairdo? Your Choice. Relax!
