Really appreciated the warm welcome from Malcolm, and thoughtful extra touches in this beautiful cottage: Welsh cakes, wine, spring flowers etc. helped to make this a very special birthday weekend for Angela. We recommend local pubs the Anchor and Wye Valley Hotel, and some happy browsing in Stella Books. Birthday lunch in the Walnut Tree near Abergavenny, seeing the Abbey each night through the cottage windows – could not be more special. Thank you Fiona and Malcolm for creating the perfect ambiance Angela and Stephen. Chepstow and Hamburg Angela and Stephen - March 2014
Our second visit in 3 months and it was lovely as the first time! The log fire was lit and the cottage as warm as can be. A tin laden with tasty cakes awaited us to accompany our first cup of tea. The weather was not so kind but we ventured out and wandered the quirky streets of Chepstow. We also ate at The Fountain and the Moon and Sixpence. Again a warm welcome and lovely food. Cooked breakfasts every morning set us up for the day and cheese and biscuits for bubbles for supper. All weekend we kept the”geometries” burning and we could have been abroad where it got so hot! Ha! We are all looking forward to visit number 3! Thanks again to Fiona and Malcolm for allowing us to enjoy their holiday cottage! Thank you for letting us stay in this lovely cottage. It was a wonderful place to stay in where daddy and I had a great weekend. We will love to stay again. James and Megan James and Megan -
We have had such a lovely stay here at Foxes Reach. Such a lovely cottage in a beautiful setting. The hot tub was perfect for relaxing after exploring the local area. Tintern Abbey was lovely even in the cold and there were so many places to discover food shopping and other shopping in Monmouth. We also discovered Cardiff was closer than we thought so finally got round to going to the Doctor Who experience which was well worth it. The log fire was a perfect way to end the day. We have already discussed a next trip. Thank you for a wonderful holiday The Johnsons and Banners -
We have had a wonderful, relaxing week. The cottage exceeded all our expectations. Thank you so much for all the extra little touches to make us feel welcome. We’ve enjoyed exploring the area, lots of walking with our two dogs Tax and Buster, discovering The Devil’s Pulpit is at the top end of a very steep climb! Thankfully, the Brockweir Inn was warm and welcoming at the bottom of the hill. Also found some lovely walks behind Tintern at Whitestone and Llandogo. Penallt and Redbrook are charming and The Inn at Penallt was an unexpected my posh surprise for lunch! Enjoyed food at The Anchor in Tintern and found the landlord at the quirky Moon and Sixpence to be a lovely, jovial “old school” landlord. But the best part of the week has been coming home to this lovely cottage- Naps on the sofa with the log burner roaring. And indulgent whirlpool baths! Thanks again, it has been wonderful. We will definitely be back Claire Banner and David Browning Claire and David -
From arrival to departure everything has been wonderful. Lovely to arrive to a cosy fire, wine and homemade vodka. Malcolm gave us the “tour” before we settled in so no need to read all the instructions on our first night, we could just unwind and begin our holiday. Weather was mixed but managed a few walks from the door and The Sculpture trail from Beechenhurst Lodge. On the wetter days we just chilled and enjoyed the cottage- the fire and hot tub were in constant use!!! Will recommend to family and friends and now feel we must try out Tintern Abbey Cottage and Vanilla Cottage in the future. Natasha and Jamie Natasha and Jamie -
