Reviews from our guests

There are several places where our guests leave us comments.

Not everyone writes in our books – but some people do write by hand in the visitor books in each cottage ( sometimes even signed by the pets! ) Sometimes people forget to write in the book and e mail us later. We faithfully copy these comments as they come in and we upload them here. The only thing we ever hide or alter is the full guest name and address for obvious reasons of privacy.

Secondly we encourage our guests to write about us on the site through which they booked (Trip Advisor, Air B and B, Cottages.com, Freetobook  etc)

As you will see we do have brilliant reviews. They are genuine, not a “fix” and  and its not that nothing ever goes wrong!  Although our standards are very high just occasionally, in the real world,  things are bound to happen. Machines fail, something breaks. The successive good reviews are  because if something does go awry, and if our guests tell us about it  during their stay,  we do move heaven and earth to fix it while those guests are still with us. People greatly appreciate this effort  on our part  and we guarantee  we always make it. If once in a while a review is less than wonderful it is  almost always the case that it was outside our control ( internet down or slow in the whole area for example)  or  sometimes we were  inexplicably only advised about a problem after those guests had departed when there was sadly nothing we could do to make it better.

“We are sisters from Wales and from Canada and came to Foxes Reach at May Day for a belated Christmas together. What a wonderful weekend we’ve had. The cottage is beautiful, well equipped and the little touches ( flowers and so on) make it truly special. We had a great meal at the Piercefield in Chepstow who even supplied crackers and mince pies for us.The cottage hot tub was wonderful and the fire warm and welcoming (even though we had warm spring sunshine!) The only downside to our holiday was that it ended too soon.

“Thanks for a lovely week in Foxes Reach.Had some lovely walks especially in Bargain Wood and Tintern Wood. Also great trips to Raglan Castle, Tintern Abbey,Clearwell Caves, canoed from Kerne Bridge to Symonds Yat, and cycled in the Forest of Dean. Very comfortable cottage and great attention to detail makes this an appealing place to stay.

“””We were made to feel very welcome in a nice, homely cottage with a woodburner, the homemade blackcurrant vodka was very much appreciated after a spell in the hot tub which was delightful! There is plenty to do in area with lots of lovely views over the Wye Valley. The Anchor Inn and Moon and Sixpence in Tintern were both nice, friendly places to eat with generous portions at a reasonable price.””

“We came back for our second visit( April 09). Our two labradors enjoyed the walking- especially down to Tintern. We walked across the River by Abbey Mill and then along the River bank and back a different way from Brockweir. The Wye Valley is a peaceful heaven. This time there were 4 of us plus the dogs. Next time there will be two so now we are trying to decide whether we will try Vanilla or come back to Foxes Reach again as we love the extra space…..

“Like several of the writers in the guest book we enjoyed walks in Tintern near the Abbey and along the river. These walks completed a wonderful time. Thank you for the wine and special fruit vodka. This latter helped us sleep 10 hours the first night! The time has gone too quickly and the peace and quiet was appreciated,
We did not try any of the local eating houses but enjoyed cooking in a well presented kitchen and the discovery of what was where for us to use. Thanks!
