Reviews from our guests

There are several places where our guests leave us comments.

Not everyone writes in our books – but some people do write by hand in the visitor books in each cottage ( sometimes even signed by the pets! ) Sometimes people forget to write in the book and e mail us later. We faithfully copy these comments as they come in and we upload them here. The only thing we ever hide or alter is the full guest name and address for obvious reasons of privacy.

Secondly we encourage our guests to write about us on the site through which they booked (Trip Advisor, Air B and B, Cottages.com, Freetobook  etc)

As you will see we do have brilliant reviews. They are genuine, not a “fix” and  and its not that nothing ever goes wrong!  Although our standards are very high just occasionally, in the real world,  things are bound to happen. Machines fail, something breaks. The successive good reviews are  because if something does go awry, and if our guests tell us about it  during their stay,  we do move heaven and earth to fix it while those guests are still with us. People greatly appreciate this effort  on our part  and we guarantee  we always make it. If once in a while a review is less than wonderful it is  almost always the case that it was outside our control ( internet down or slow in the whole area for example)  or  sometimes we were  inexplicably only advised about a problem after those guests had departed when there was sadly nothing we could do to make it better.

Thank you for a wonderful stay in this idyllic cottage.

We came to Wales as part of a group of 15 Norgegians staying in 2 cottages.

We enjoyed the great Welsh hospitality very much. Alexadria (2) especially liked the hot tub!

The Wye Valley is a fabulous destination for visitors. There is so much to do and enjoy. There are the historical sites such as The Abbey in Tintern and the castles in Chepstow and Raglan, to name but two of them. The river itself is popular with visitors boasting a number of water sport activities such as canoeing and paddle boarding.

The scenery iteself is a major attraction enjoyed by walkers, and especially dog walkers. Tintern is a Dog Friendly village! A visit to the vineyard in the village is a must for some, as is the local brewery adjacent to the Wye Valley Sculpture garden.

The views from the Devil’s Pulpit are stunning as it gives an aerial view of Tintern and the Abbey.

A short drive away the is Symonds Yat rock a popular destination for visitors.

We spent a lovely morning at the “Cute farm Experience” cuddling lots of young animals and seeing an Alpaca that was only a clouple of hours old was definitely a highlight.

We’d highly recommend a trip to Puzzlewood and canoeing around Symonds Yat – on a weekday it is much quieter!

Its been a jam packed week but we’ve made so many lovely memmories and this cottage has truly felt like home.

Thank you so much and we look forward to visiting again!

Foxes Reach is an ideal base for families with dogs who enjoy many of the local attractions. Within two mile of the cottage there is The Lost City of Trelleck, a site that is being excavated by the Archiologists. And just around the corner from it The Standing Stones.

There are forest walks aplenty in the local area several in the woods are minutes away from the cottage. There are signposted walks in Whitestone forest which boasts some spectacular views.

There is plenty to do for guests of all ages. Geochaching is very popular particularly with teenagers who enjoy the fresh air and use of the geocaching app on their mobile phones. Canoeing the Wye from Symonds Yat to Monmouth or from Monmouth to Redbrook is a favorite activity with all age groups.

Monmouthshire is the Food Capital of Wales with many artisan producers and shops. There is a wide range of places to eat ranging from Michellin star to cafes and coffee shops. If you have brought your cycles then The Filling Station in Tintern is the place for you. They provide racks for your bike while you enjoy the coffee and freshly made paninis.
