Reviews from our guests

There are several places where our guests leave us comments.

Not everyone writes in our books ( and they were plastic wrapped during the pandemic which meant many did not ) – but some people do write by hand in the visitor books in each cottage ( sometimes even signed by the pets! ) Sometimes people forget to write in the book and e mail us later. We faithfully copy these comments as they come in and we upload them here. The only thing we ever hide or alter is the full guest name and address for obvious reasons of privacy.

Secondly we encourage our guests to write about us on the site through which they booked (Trip Advisor, Air B and B, Cottages.com, Freetobook  etc)

As you will see we do have brilliant reviews. They are genuine, not a “fix” and  and its not that nothing ever goes wrong!  Although our standards are very high just occasionally, in the real world,  things are bound to happen. Machines fail, something breaks. The successive good reviews are  because if something does go awry, and if our guests tell us about it  during their stay,  we do move heaven and earth to fix it while those guests are still with us. People greatly appreciate this effort  on our part  and we guarantee  we always make it. If once in a while a review is less than wonderful it is  almost always the case that it was outside our control ( internet down or slow in the whole area for example)  or we were only advised about a problem after those guests had departed when there was nothing we could do to make it better.

Great stay, lovely comfortable rooms very warm and cosy. Good walking area, Monmouth worth a visit and Llanthony Priory. Very good, thank you.

Thank you Malcolm and Fiona for a lovely stay at your beautiful Tintern Abbey Cottage. Everyone told us it rains a lot in Wales! Nevertheless we had a wonderful few days – driving through the villages, a visit to the Sculpture trail ( incorporating the Gruffalo trail which the kids enjoyed!) Red robin spotting, crunching through snow, local walks, a wander around the Abbey. Too much to see and do with only three days to do it in so we will have to come back.
Thank you for the welcome treats- delicious BlackBerry Vodka!
How nice it was to sit beside a real fire sipping wine!. A rarity in Australia!
Off now, to the other side of the world, to 35 degrees Celsius, but this area has left a lasting impression.
Warm wishes, Melanie and Maciek Grabowski and family Western Australia

Melanie and Maciek Grabowski -

We had a wonderful week in Vanilla cottage and enjoyed walking off the pre Christmas stress in the Brecon Beacons. Our favourites were hiking a frozen llangattock Escarpment, where we were one of a few walkers on New Years Eve. This was in contrast to a very busy and stormy Pen Y Fan. We are avid hikers (probably the austrian genes) we will definitely be coming back to explore the area and would love to stay in Vanilla cottage again.
