Reviews from our guests

There are several places where our guests leave us comments.

Not everyone writes in our books ( and they were plastic wrapped during the pandemic which meant many did not ) – but some people do write by hand in the visitor books in each cottage ( sometimes even signed by the pets! ) Sometimes people forget to write in the book and e mail us later. We faithfully copy these comments as they come in and we upload them here. The only thing we ever hide or alter is the full guest name and address for obvious reasons of privacy.

Secondly we encourage our guests to write about us on the site through which they booked (Trip Advisor, Air B and B, Cottages.com, Freetobook  etc)

As you will see we do have brilliant reviews. They are genuine, not a “fix” and  and its not that nothing ever goes wrong!  Although our standards are very high just occasionally, in the real world,  things are bound to happen. Machines fail, something breaks. The successive good reviews are  because if something does go awry, and if our guests tell us about it  during their stay,  we do move heaven and earth to fix it while those guests are still with us. People greatly appreciate this effort  on our part  and we guarantee  we always make it. If once in a while a review is less than wonderful it is  almost always the case that it was outside our control ( internet down or slow in the whole area for example)  or we were only advised about a problem after those guests had departed when there was nothing we could do to make it better.

Lovely cottage and even more special with the Christmas tree lights twinkling on our arrival. visited Raglan Castle, Tintern Abbey and the local vineyard. The local wine is fabulous! Have taken a botle of mead home too. hic hic. We have stayed in many places and we will be back to this area to see it in the summer as it’s one of the best!
Many thanks

Thank you for making our Xmas 2014 so wonderful from the moment we arrived to the moment we are about to leave, it felt like home. The Xmas tree, fire and mulled wine were amazing touches that relaxed us within minutes despite our 18 hour journey. We had a wonderful time here the only downside is that we couldn’t stay longer.
This area is heaven on earth for us and we cannot wait to return.
Thank you Fiona and Malcolm for being such considerate and welcoming hosts.
Wishing you Happy New Year and Prosperity in 2015.

Karen and Andrew Jones -

What a special cottage! We have had a wonderful stay at Foxes Reach. Thank you for the lovely welcome and all the extra touches I.e. wine and Vodka etc. Loved the hot tub on a starry night and wood burner. All very relaxing. This is a perfect cottage and look forward to visiting again next year.
Visited Monmouth and Chepstow (Castle worth a visit), Tintern ( The Anchor is a good pub) Abergavenny (great market on a Tuesday) and Usk (nice drive out) Many thanks again Lynn and Laurence Hodgkins Birmingham

Another relaxing stay at Vanilla Cottage. Can’t comment on restaurants locally because we brought half the contents of M&S food dept with us and had a lovely time tucking in and enjoying the facilities at the cottage.
Thanks for the welcome pack
