Reviews from our guests

There are several places where our guests leave us comments.

Not everyone writes in our books – but some people do write by hand in the visitor books in each cottage ( sometimes even signed by the pets! ) Sometimes people forget to write in the book and e mail us later. We faithfully copy these comments as they come in and we upload them here. The only thing we ever hide or alter is the full guest name and address for obvious reasons of privacy.

Secondly we encourage our guests to write about us on the site through which they booked (Trip Advisor, Air B and B, Cottages.com, Freetobook  etc)

As you will see we do have brilliant reviews. They are genuine, not a “fix” and  and its not that nothing ever goes wrong!  Although our standards are very high just occasionally, in the real world,  things are bound to happen. Machines fail, something breaks. The successive good reviews are  because if something does go awry, and if our guests tell us about it  during their stay,  we do move heaven and earth to fix it while those guests are still with us. People greatly appreciate this effort  on our part  and we guarantee  we always make it. If once in a while a review is less than wonderful it is  almost always the case that it was outside our control ( internet down or slow in the whole area for example)  or  sometimes we were  inexplicably only advised about a problem after those guests had departed when there was sadly nothing we could do to make it better.

Another lovely visit to Tintern Abbey Cottage. We enjoyed the Monk’s Walk and tea at The Old Station, They’ve opened a new play area which our daughter enjoyed. Went to Cardiff Castle and parked at the park and ride. We also went to the fun and floats swimming at Monmouth Pool, good for a rainy day.
I’m sure we will be back, thanks for having us.

Had a lovely week, cottage was really comfy and had everything we needed. Owners did everything to make us feel welcome. The Fountain Inn was excellent, very dog friendly, and the food was lovely. Really enjoyed visits to Tintern Abbey, Raglan Castle, Monmouth and the Forest of Dean.
Thanks for the wine and Welsh Cakes.

Good visit thank you. Enjoyed the golf at Celtic Manor and the people and the food at The Black Bear. Also picked up some great produce from Usk Farmers Market and the South AfricNeian Shop.

We have had such a wonderful stay at Tintern Abbey Cottage. It is very comfortable and luxurious and has been so beautifully renovated and decorated, with such attention to detail. The welcoming flowers in the window of each lovely room were delightful.
We have loved being here and didn’t want to leave! To be able to look out at the beautiful Tintern Abbey from the cottage is an amazing experience. Tintern itself is a lovely place to stay- walking in the forests and hills all around is fantastic and the valley is extraordinarily lovely. And of course Tintern Abbey itself is completely wonderful.
The Anchor Inn provided delicious meals and a warm welcome.
We hope we can come back.

Once again we have had a wonderful week at Vanilla Cottage. Thank you Fiona and Malcolm for the warm welcome and the little extras flowers, cakes, milk, wine and of course the fabulous Vodka, much appreciated. The weather was so hot on Tuesday and Wednesday it was 35 degrees on the terrace far too hot for walking or a car ride so we just stayed at the cottage with the wildlife.
Well it’s time to leave again so it’s goodbye to all the birds, squirrels Tec and last but not least Fiona and Malcolm.
Thank you

Came to the cottage for Jane’s birthday. Last minute booking after a cancellation, unfortunately for them and lucky for us. Loved cottage – treats, Abbey, walks from back door! Wild flowers, location, table laid for us, recalcitrant vodka, peace and quiet, beautiful garden, large comfy beds.
Will be back if possible and recommend you to all our friends and neighbours Thank you
