Reviews from our guests

There are several places where our guests leave us comments.

Not everyone writes in our books – but some people do write by hand in the visitor books in each cottage ( sometimes even signed by the pets! ) Sometimes people forget to write in the book and e mail us later. We faithfully copy these comments as they come in and we upload them here. The only thing we ever hide or alter is the full guest name and address for obvious reasons of privacy.

Secondly we encourage our guests to write about us on the site through which they booked (Trip Advisor, Air B and B, Cottages.com, Freetobook  etc)

As you will see we do have brilliant reviews. They are genuine, not a “fix” and  and its not that nothing ever goes wrong!  Although our standards are very high just occasionally, in the real world,  things are bound to happen. Machines fail, something breaks. The successive good reviews are  because if something does go awry, and if our guests tell us about it  during their stay,  we do move heaven and earth to fix it while those guests are still with us. People greatly appreciate this effort  on our part  and we guarantee  we always make it. If once in a while a review is less than wonderful it is  almost always the case that it was outside our control ( internet down or slow in the whole area for example)  or  sometimes we were  inexplicably only advised about a problem after those guests had departed when there was sadly nothing we could do to make it better.

“It really is Location Location Location here close to so many walks, interesting towns and castles.
Thank you for the warm welcome when we arrived and all the little extras thoughtfully included. We have had a great week exploring very different places to when we have stayed at Foxes Reach- which makes it seem further away than it is!
We loved Usk Castle, the Farmers market, Raglan Castle and Caerphilly – fascinating and dog friendly too.
We loved walking in the Beacons and preferred Garwnant to the visitor centre area.Hereford and Hay on Wye are lovely towns lots of boutique shopping if you like the French shabby chic thing. Perfect shops for that!
Must do extras Big Pit, very interesting to talk to the ex miners who are now guides. They dont hark back to the Halcyon Days and wonder why we want to visit! That gave us a more rounded view.
Abbey Dore gardens must go back. Couldnt go into the gardens with the dogs but the cakes in the tea room were lovely!
Of course the weather has been very kind and so relaxing in the garden has been just lovely at the end of each day. just what is the beautifully tiered shrub half way down he garden? please tell we want one for home.
Thanks again, our third visit and we will return soon to one or other of your cottages!

“After months of ill health this break was exactly what we needed and boy, do we feel better for it.Even the weather could not dampen our spirits. We have seen this wonderful part of the world in all seasons and never tire of its beauty. The cottage is so cosy, lovely comfy bed, and homely touches. We loved the vodka nightcap- we must make it part of our bed time routine!
Thanks and ten out of ten for for everything

The Sugar Loaf walk was excellent as was the Wye Valley walk and the walks from Clytha Park ( National Trust) .We highly recommend the waymarked circuit and a visit to the Clytha Arms! We dont know if we would come again as we have already been to Foxes Reach and we like to go to different places but we will certainly recommend you. Thanks!
