Reviews from our guests

There are several places where our guests leave us comments.

Not everyone writes in our books ( and they were plastic wrapped during the pandemic which meant many did not ) – but some people do write by hand in the visitor books in each cottage ( sometimes even signed by the pets! ) Sometimes people forget to write in the book and e mail us later. We faithfully copy these comments as they come in and we upload them here. The only thing we ever hide or alter is the full guest name and address for obvious reasons of privacy.

Secondly we encourage our guests to write about us on the site through which they booked (Trip Advisor, Air B and B, Cottages.com, Freetobook  etc)

As you will see we do have brilliant reviews. They are genuine, not a “fix” and  and its not that nothing ever goes wrong!  Although our standards are very high just occasionally, in the real world,  things are bound to happen. Machines fail, something breaks. The successive good reviews are  because if something does go awry, and if our guests tell us about it  during their stay,  we do move heaven and earth to fix it while those guests are still with us. People greatly appreciate this effort  on our part  and we guarantee  we always make it. If once in a while a review is less than wonderful it is  almost always the case that it was outside our control ( internet down or slow in the whole area for example)  or we were only advised about a problem after those guests had departed when there was nothing we could do to make it better.

Lovely cottage. All the little touches were very much appreciated, especially the flowers and vodka.

Lovely stay in a lovely cottage. Nice walk and picnic up at the fort, supplied by wyevalleypicnics.co.UK. Walk along river northward very picturesque to Clytha Castle and park. Lovely lunch at Clytha Arms – the Ploughmans is recommended. The Black Bear for supper is a treat- really nice staff there.

Home from Home, thank you Fiona And Malcolm for the lovely welcome. We had a fabulous time, good walks, National Trust properties and certainly excellent meals over at The Anchor Inn. The staff over at The Anchor Inn are so friendly and “dog friendly”.
Tintern Abbey Cottage is set in a brilliant location with all the comforts of home. Log burner very cosy in the evening. Recommendation made by Malcolm for Sunday lunch at The Fountain Inn proved to be a winner!!!

This was our first visit to Wales and I’m sure we’ll be back as there’s so much more to see!
Lovely, spacious and homely cottage in a great location. Lovely welcoming touches and the woodburner made it so cosy.
A couple of long walks from the cottage were great. We visited the Doctor Who experience in Cardiff as our children are fans. The Big Pit was also well worth a visit -a fascinating insight into the mining life.
All in all a fantastic week and we’d love to come back.

We have enjoyed the cottage, tremendously, in a beautiful location, tremendous for night photography. All the little details and extras in the cottage, made a difference.
Had some lovely walks from the cottage, especially from Tintern to Brockweir along the river. Dogs especially appreciated it.
Had some lovely meals in The Anchor, excellent food, all fresh produce. The Steak Ale Pie (homemade) is fab.
Overall beautiful cottage, with so many little extras.
