Reviews from our guests

There are several places where our guests leave us comments.

Not everyone writes in our books ( and they were plastic wrapped during the pandemic which meant many did not ) – but some people do write by hand in the visitor books in each cottage ( sometimes even signed by the pets! ) Sometimes people forget to write in the book and e mail us later. We faithfully copy these comments as they come in and we upload them here. The only thing we ever hide or alter is the full guest name and address for obvious reasons of privacy.

Secondly we encourage our guests to write about us on the site through which they booked (Trip Advisor, Air B and B, Cottages.com, Freetobook  etc)

As you will see we do have brilliant reviews. They are genuine, not a “fix” and  and its not that nothing ever goes wrong!  Although our standards are very high just occasionally, in the real world,  things are bound to happen. Machines fail, something breaks. The successive good reviews are  because if something does go awry, and if our guests tell us about it  during their stay,  we do move heaven and earth to fix it while those guests are still with us. People greatly appreciate this effort  on our part  and we guarantee  we always make it. If once in a while a review is less than wonderful it is  almost always the case that it was outside our control ( internet down or slow in the whole area for example)  or we were only advised about a problem after those guests had departed when there was nothing we could do to make it better.

We have had a lovely week. Thank you.
We have had a great holiday with our humans here at Foxes Reach. Walks around the village are ok although the local dogs are a bit noisy at the sight of visitors. On a hot day woodland walks have been fun. We also liked Chepstow Castle and Symonds Yat. Our favourite place to relax is The Anchor Inn at Tintern- great for a lunch/ tea. We also liked the Inn at Penallt. Best of all was coming here to laze about in the garden.

What a lovely cottage. Jeff, Lara and I thoroughly enjoyed our week in the Wye Valley. Every recommendation from Fiona was spot on . The memories we take back to America are outstanding.

We enjoyed a relaxing week in Abbey Cottage and the beautiful surrounding area. The cottage is very well appointed and presented beautifully.
If visiting with a four legged friend who loves water, then a visit to Mallards Pike and Wenchford in the Forest of Dean are first class.
Sunday lunch in the Fountain Inn, very nice and very welcoming after a longer than expected walk to get there (dog friendly).
Local beer (Kingstone Brewery and Wye Valley Brewery) very refreshing after walks in local countryside.
All in all, a very enjoyable week.

This is a wonderful, tranquil place to stay. Fiona did a fantastic job in preparing everything to the highest standard. Outstanding!
The best things were:
Evening walks around Tintern in woods and along river
3 Castles walk (White Castle, Grosmont, Skenfrith) fabulous scenery but a lot to d in me day.
Raglan Castle, especially the views from the tower at the back Chepstow and Castle, especially the tiny medieval walled garden!
Tintern Abbey – go early before it gets busy.
