Reviews from our guests

There are several places where our guests leave us comments.

Not everyone writes in our books – but some people do write by hand in the visitor books in each cottage ( sometimes even signed by the pets! ) Sometimes people forget to write in the book and e mail us later. We faithfully copy these comments as they come in and we upload them here. The only thing we ever hide or alter is the full guest name and address for obvious reasons of privacy.

Secondly we encourage our guests to write about us on the site through which they booked (Trip Advisor, Air B and B, Cottages.com, Freetobook  etc)

As you will see we do have brilliant reviews. They are genuine, not a “fix” and  and its not that nothing ever goes wrong!  Although our standards are very high just occasionally, in the real world,  things are bound to happen. Machines fail, something breaks. The successive good reviews are  because if something does go awry, and if our guests tell us about it  during their stay,  we do move heaven and earth to fix it while those guests are still with us. People greatly appreciate this effort  on our part  and we guarantee  we always make it. If once in a while a review is less than wonderful it is  almost always the case that it was outside our control ( internet down or slow in the whole area for example)  or  sometimes we were  inexplicably only advised about a problem after those guests had departed when there was sadly nothing we could do to make it better.

Another relaxing stay in the Wye Valley. Had a wonderful day CAnal boating from Goytre Wharf which we would highly recommend.

Such a lovely place to visit! We came for a few relaxing days to chill out before our baby arrives in 7 weeks. The cottage is beautiful with an amazing garden. Spent our nights chilling and eating in the cottage. Ate out one night at The Black Bear- very good food! Le Preggo in Monmouth do amazing cream teas! Jean Williams of Sweets fishing shop is lovely- sorted Paul out for fishing equipment – so friendly.
We really enjoyed being in Vanilla Cottage, even though the weather wasn’t great, it provided a relaxing haven for us and luckily no dashes to the local hospitals.
Many thanks to Malcolm and Fiona

Our stay was very relaxing and we would love to come again!
Very comfortable rooms and a lovely time spent with our family.
What a fabulous weekend we have had with our sons and their families. We love this cottage. As soon as we walked through the door we felt at home. The welcome was full of warmth, and the little details made the difference, the flowers, the Welsh Cakes and gingerbread rabbits, which Caleb (16 months) loved, the dining table laid for our evening meal, true wine. Everything was so lovely. I would recommend this cottage wholeheartedly. The area is great, the weather was great, our holiday was great. Thank you so much! Already looking forward to our next visit. Intending to experience Vanilla Cottage and Foxes Reach also.

We have enjoyed the cottage tremendously it’s beautiful! And have been inspired to paint the Abbey in all its glory. The location is superb and the Stella bookshop has been a revelation. Wild garlic and Bluebells in drifts everywhere added to. The Lovely tulips you left for us to enjoy are reflected in our paintings!!

We loved our stay here, such a beautiful, cosy, modern cottage with loads of character. We had lovely weather for the first few days which allowed us to sit outside. We both went for a run through the lanes and while normally we would use our iPods found it nice for a change to listen to the quiet and nature around us.
The cottage had everything we needed, thank you so much. Perfect week.

Lovely cottage, warm and cosy with everything we needed (and more). A warm welcome and special treats was much appreciated, enjoyed sitting in the garden listening to the birds,, saw Red kites and Robins, so peaceful and relaxing, we have visited quite a few places, went to Tintern Vineyards but it was a bit early for a tour, still we saw the new lambs which was interesting and bought Plum and Berry wine (delicious)’ Fish and chips at Seven Seas fish bar in Ross on Wye are best ever. Really enjoyed the week here.
